The former Panthers QB turned radio analyst for the team joined Kyle Bailey on Monday as he reacted to the Panthers trading up for the #1 pick and which QB he thinks Carolina will target.

Jake first started by giving his initial reaction to the trade as he didn’t know if Carolina would have enough ammo to trade up, but he thinks this trade happening shows that the Panthers have some conviction on one of these players in next month’s draft. The conversation expanded to the QBs in this draft as he thinks the top 2 QBs in this draft are Alabama’s Bryce Young and Ohio State’s CJ Stroud. Jake noted how Bryce Young is extremely talented from the head up, and while CJ Stroud may have some knocks he said he was completely amazed by what he did against Georgia.

When it comes to how these QBs might fit in Frank Reich’s offense Jake said you need to mold it in the image of the QB you draft, but Jake did point out how vital new QB Coach Josh McCown will be as a calming presence for whomever the Panthers draft along with Frank Reich and Jim Caldwell.

Despite the hype around getting the first pick, the Panthers lost star WR DJ Moore in the process and Jake said it is going to be difficult as you will likely not find a WR of his caliber in free agency, and Carolina could pluck a wideout in the draft or try and get a TE as well.
