New Backpack Changes for CMS Students 2024-2025 Academic Year
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) has requested that students avoid bringing metal 3-ring binders and metal frame backpacks this year. According to the 2024-2025 Parent-Student Handbook, these items trigger the district’s new weapon detection systems, leading to increased security checks and delays. Instead, students are encouraged to use pocket folders, plastic 3-ring binders, or notebooks to help streamline school entry and reduce disruptions. CMS students will start the school year on August 26.
