Power Outages Hit Over 5,000 in South Charlotte Yesterday

More than 5,000 Duke Energy customers in south Charlotte lost power Thursday afternoon due to three reported outages. The first, caused by a vehicle damaging equipment, occurred shortly after noon and was expected to be restored by 4:45 p.m. The second and third outages followed shortly after, with both projected to be resolved by 5:45 p.m.
The impacted area stretched from Bank Street to parts of Park Road. While the cause of the initial outage was confirmed, the reasons behind the second and third outages remain unclear as crews continue restoration efforts.
