Historic South Carolina Church Destroyed by Weekend Fire

A historic church in South Carolina, more than 150 years old, was reduced to rubble after a devastating fire over the weekend.
On Saturday, July 19, flames engulfed Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Darlington. Fire crews from multiple departments responded quickly, but the fire proved too intense to contain. Photos from the scene showed massive flames consuming the structure, leaving little behind once the blaze was extinguished.
Firefighters said they brought in several water tankers and even set up a pool to support their efforts, but the church was ultimately lost.
Despite the destruction, the spirit of the congregation remained unshaken. On Sunday morning, church members gathered for worship under a large tent on the church lawn, continuing their tradition of faith and community.
