Loud Pack Skunk Crashes Through Doggy Door With Unwanted Scent

A skunk in Lincoln County went full “Loud Pack” earlier this month when it sprayed a group of unsuspecting family dogs and then boldly entered their home through a doggy door. The bizarre incident unfolded on July 8 along Royal Oaks Drive near Lee Lawing Road in Lincolnton, where officials later confirmed the skunk had tested positive for rabies on July 11. Fortunately, no humans were exposed during the malodorous melee.
Authorities haven’t confirmed whether the dogs suffered any effects beyond smelling like a middle school locker room after taco day, but the situation raised concerns about wildlife access and rabies exposure. County officials are using the incident to remind residents to ensure pets are vaccinated and that doggy doors don’t turn into wildlife welcome mats.
