Regal Theatres announced on their website Monday that they will be reopening movie theaters in North Carolina, starting with Charlotte on April 16.

Charlotte’s Regal Stonecrest at Piper Glen 4DX, IMAX & RPX will be the first to reopen, the company announced. On May 7, Regal Birkdale in Huntersville and Regal Starlight in Charlotte will reopen, as well as other North Carolina theaters

Many other movie theatre chains in the city have been open, while others remain closed.

Regal posted on their website that select theaters around the county will begin opening on April 2, with additional safety measures in place.

The reopening comes after Gov. Roy Cooper eased COVID restrictions for several businesses, including movie theaters to operate at 50% capacity, up from 30%.
