Nicki Minaj is doing what she can to help prevent Meek Mill from going back to jail.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Meek violated his probation by traveling out of town without notifying the court and in turn could be back behind bars soon if a judge determines that his violation is enough to warrant another jail stint. Having been by his side since he was released from his last bid in December of 2014, Nicki took to the stand at his probation hearing on Thursday to try and convince the judge that not to send Meek back to jail by testifying to his improvement since being released last year.

TMZ reports that in addition to the issues with his travel, Meek also submitted a suspicious urine sample during a routine drug test, which a lab tech determined to have been cold water instead of urine. Meek supposedly told the lab tech his pee looked the way it did due to a protein drink he had been consuming and Nicki co-signed his explanation, adding that Meek “doesn’t do drugs and did not fake the test.”

Meek himself also took to his Instagram this week to speak vaguely on the possibility of going back to jail, shaming those finding humor in his situation and asking for prayers from fans.

Nicki also told the court that she feels she’ll be able to help Meek stay on the right course if he is kept out of jail, adding that she believes she has more influence over him than his parole officer does since they currently live together, according to USA Today.

“She’s not going to be the one sleeping alone if he goes to jail. I am. He’s not perfect, but I can’t believe how much he’s changed.

He doesn’t have a lot of structure. He can be irresponsible. Since I’ve come in his life, I think I’ve been working on that a little bit. He’s just getting accustomed to being an adult.”
