Did J. Cole just let off a few shots in Kanye West‘s direction?

Yesterday, we learned that Dreamville‘s head honcho was dropping an album next week and a 40-minute documentary was released soon after. The doc features a few of the new gems we hope to hear on December 9, including what sounded like a shot at Mr. West.

The verse in question can be heard above. It seems like Cole is speaking to ‘Ye from the perspective of a fan and his supposed fall from grace. With lines like “what’s more important is he’s cryin’ out for help

/While the world’s eggin’ him on, I’m beggin’ him to stop/ And playin’ his old shit, knowin’ he won’t top it,” it is pretty easy to assume he’s talking about Kanye.

Elsewhere in the verse, others believe Cole had a few bars for Drake too. Specifically those that read “But come to find out, these n-ggas don’t even write they shit / Hear some new style bubblin’ up, then they bite the shit.”

In the documentary, Cole says that he’s about to “take this opportunity to say the realest shit I’ve ever said.” Clearly, he wasn’t kidding.
