The first day of joint practices for the Carolina Panthers against the New York Jets appeared to have gone pretty well on Wednesday. The Carolina Panthers enter the 2023 season with the hopes of competing for a NFC South division title, as they seek to end the second-longest playoff drought in franchise history. The franchise underwent a major makeover after they fired Matt Rhule last October, hiring Frank Reich, the first offensive-minded head coach in team history. With all the moves made on that side of the football, drafting Bryce Young #1 overall, and bringing in great assistants like Josh McCown, and Thomas Brown, it's the defense that gives Carolina a chance to play meaningful football into January.

Entering the 2023 season, the biggest question on offense outside of Bryce Young is who will emerge as the number one pass target for the rookie signal caller. When Carolina made the move to trade up to #1, they sent DJ Moore to Chicago, therefore taking away the best receiver from the eventually drafted Alabama prospect. Carolina made moves during free agency, signing Adam Thielen after a stellar run with the Vikings, and DJ Chark away from the Detroit Lions. They didn't stop there, as they also used a second-round pick on Jonathan Mingo, out of Ole Miss, to give Bryce Young another weapon. Even with the additions to the wide receiver room, and the addition of Hayden Hurst, who plays tight end, there still isn't a clear #1 wide receiver on the roster, something that most teams that make the postseason typically have.

The moves on the offensive side of the football this off-season have garnered the most attention for the Panthers this off-season, and rightfully so, trading up to the #1 pick to draft Bryce Young, hiring Frank Reich, Josh McCown, and Thomas Brown, among other moves. But the reason to be optimistic about the Panthers' hopes of competing in 2023, is on the defensive side of the ball, where the hire of Ejero Evero, is poised to take the defense from good to great. One of the many players expected to benefit from the Evero hire is safety Jeremy Chinn, who is looking to recapture his big-play skills from his rookie season, where he finished second in the Defensive Rookie of the Year voting.

The left tackle spot was a point of contention for many Panther fans for a while, but the position looks to be locked down for the foreseeable future. Ikem Ekwonu, who the team drafted with the No. 6 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, is coming off a really solid rookie season for the team […]

Earlier today, reports surfaced that the Panthers are luring in the sweepstakes for potentially landing free agent wide receiver, DeAndre Hopkins. Carolina has made moves to bolster their wide receiver room this off-season, as they drafted Johnathan Mingo out of Ole Miss, and signed veteran Adam Theilen. Even with those moves, the Panthers wide receiver core is still considered among the worst in the NFL and could be what limits Bryce Young's success as a rookie. Ever since David Tepper fired Matt Rhule last October, and decided not to retain interim head coach, Steve Wilks, this organization has been "all in" bringing in a star-studded coaching staff, headlined by Frank Reich, in addition to trading up to #1 to draft the aforementioned Young.Â
