NFL: SEP 18 Saints at Panthers

With all of the focus entering Sunday’s game on the health of Bryce Young, who has been ruled out of the Week 3 contest, you may have overlooked the fact that there is a game to be played, and even Seattle is dealing with injuries of their own. The Seahawks, who are 1-1, after opening the season with a loss to the Rams, before winning in Detroit last weekend, boast one of the more efficient offenses in the NFL, even with Charles Cross not 100% healthy. Cross, was not a participant in practice today, and if he’s not able to go, that opens the door for Brian Burns to feast all game long.

The injuries among the offensive line aren’t lost on Seahawks radio voice, Steve Raible, who joined the Wes & Walker Show earlier today to preview the matchup, saying “It’s going to be difficult. It’s the very first thing when Pete (Carrol), did his Wednesday press conference, about how sturdy, how tough you guys are up front, on both sides of the football, and it is going to be a test for us.”

Through the first two games, the Panthers have totaled 8 sacks, and 12 tackles for loss, as Ejiro Evero’s new 3-4 defense, has been as good as advertised. Brian Burns has recorded 2 sacks so far, and Frankie Luvu has 2.5 sacks as well, giving the Panthers a quality 1-2 pass rush in the early part of the season. Given the struggles that Carolina has experienced in the early going, it’s going to be on the defense to keep the team in the game, on the road in a hostile environment. With the Seahawks potentially being without their starting left tackle, it’s going to be imperative that the Panthers win up front early and often, to give the defense a chance to keep a high-powered offense in check over four quarters.

You can catch the Wes & Walker Show every weekday from 12-3 PM, on Sports Radio 92.7 WFNZ, and the WFNZz app.
