Carolina Panthers v Seattle Seahawks

After an 0-3 start, it is harder to see the vision that Frank Reich has for the Panthers this season, and beyond. When you look at the upcoming stretch of games, at home against the Vikings, and at the Lions and Dolphins ahead of the bye, an 0-6 start isn’t out of the question for Carolina. And if that happens, an already on the edge fan base will only continue to implode all over the place. But is it still okay to have faith that Reich, will turn out to be the right hire?

That is the exact conversation that the Wes & Walker Show had earlier today on WFNZ, and they both communicated that even though it’s hard to see it now, Reich was hired for a reason, and is going to be given an opportunity to turn this thing around. You have to remember that Reich did take the Colts to the postseason after a 1-5 start and was a big reason for the Eagles Super Bowl title back in 2017. Furthermore, Reich is most the qualified head coach this franchise has hired outside of George Seifert and is more than capable of turning the Panthers into a winning team.

It’s also hard to put the entire blame on Reich for the 0-3 start after injuries have hindered the offensive line and have taken away their starting linebacker, and cornerback. The roster has come under fire in the last couple of days, which isn’t at all on Reich’s shoulder, as that blame lies on Scott Fitterer, whose job is very much in question if this doesn’t get turned around in a timely manner.

0-3 isn’t the way anyone wanted to see the season begin, and after such an abysmal start, Reich and his staff are preaching that a greater sense of energy is needed starting this week with the Vikings, another 0-3 team, coming to the Queen City. With that sense of urgency though, patience is going to be needed to give Reich the necessary time to implement his scheme and philosophy take hold.

You can catch the Wes & Walker Shoe every weekday from 12-3 PM on Sports Radio 92.7 WFNZ, and the WFNZ app.
