Could you imagine if your employer gave you over $1,000 in a bonus but later told you to pay it back?
That’s what happened to over 200 CMS teachers!
Over 200 high school English teachers must pay back over $1,000 from Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools. The mix-up came after CMS attempted to give $1,250 bonuses to new hires due to the teaching shortage. None of the recipients were new teachers, prompting CMS to demand the money back.
Teachers have the option of paying it back in a lump sum or in monthly payments.
