At Least 20 Dead In Mass Shooting At Orlando Gay Nightclub

There is a serious turn in events in the tragic shooting at Pulse, the LGBT club in Orlando that became the site of the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history on Sunday morning. The killer, Omar Mateen was reportedly a regular at the very club he terrorized. On top of that, it is now being said that he exchanged messages with at least one gay man on a popular gay dating app.

While Mateen’s father told reporters that his son became mad when he saw two homosexual men kissing, men who frequented Pulse recognized him as a frequent visitor to the LGBT club. “It’s the same guy,” Chris Callen, who performs under the name Kristina McLaughlin told the Canadian Press. “He’s been going to this bar for at least three years.”

Another performer, Ty Smith, told the Canadian Press, “(He’d get) really, really drunk… He couldn’t drink when he was at home — around his wife, or family. His father was really strict… He used to bitch about it.”

Smith also spoke with the Orlando Sentinel saying, “Sometimes he would go over in the corner and sit and drink by himself, and other times he would get so drunk he was loud and belligerent,” Smith said. “We didn’t really talk to him a lot, but I remember him saying things about his dad at times… He told us he had a wife and child.”

Mateen, who married a woman in 2009, was an abusive and dangerous husband and father. His ex-wife said they were married for only two months before her parents rescued her from their home in Florida. Their divorce was finalized two years later.

This horrifying attack has left Orlando in a state of shock. As more news is revealed about the attacker, and especially the 50 victims who lost their lives at his hand, the story just becomes more and more tragic.
