After five seasons, Ron Sanchez officially stepped down as the head basketball coach at Charlotte. Sanchez resigned so that he could return to Tony Bennett's bench at Virginia. Sanchez was 72-78 during his tenure with the program but failed to make the NCAA Tournament. This news broke during the Wes & Walker Show on WFNZ, and it allowed two guys that care about Charlotte basketball to give their thoughts.

The squad had won five of six in MLS contests despite being one of the more banged up teams in the league and having one of the more grueling schedules in the league in the past month. On Saturday night, the fatigue and injuries seemed to catch up to them, as they put together one of their worst defensive performances of the year in a 4-2 loss to Columbus Crew.

We knew it was going to be a tough ask for Charlotte FC to go from Los Angeles to Philadelphia to face the defending Eastern Conference champs on a short turnaround. Add in the fact that the team was still without forwards Enzo Copetti, Kamil Jozwiak and McKenzie Gaines and it was nearly an impossible task.
